Why larps?

Larp (Live-action role-playing) is a form of narrative game in which participants take on the roles of characters and create an interactive story together. Unlike traditional board or computer games, larp requires direct involvement of participants who play their roles in the real world, often in a suitably designed setting. Unlike theatre plays, larp generally takes place without the participation of the audience, and the players themselves influence how the overarcihng plot and the stories of their characters will unfold.

Larp allows for the exploration of topics such as identity, interpersonal relationships, and social challenges, providing space for experimentation and for the discovery of new perspectives. It is both a form of entertainment and a tool for education, team-building, and the honing of soft skills.

Larp is not only a fun pastime, but also an experience that can have an invaluable impact on the players.

Larps can have an immensely powerful impact on the participants, offering, among other things:

  • Emotional development: Playing different roles allows participants to better understand themselves and others, as well as develop empathy and emotional intelligence.

  • Cultural influence: Larps promote diversity and intercultural understanding by allowing participants to explore different worldviews and traditions.

  • Educational value: They can be used as an educational tool to develop skills such as teamwork, leadership skills, problem-solving, critical thinking, and many others.

In an age of immersive theatre, 5D cinema, escape rooms, and the renaissance of role-playing games, larps are the next step in the evolution of immersive experiences. By offering participants a safe, inclusive, professional environment to explore a variety of topics, including those related to current socio-economic, ethical and cultural issues, larps introduce a wide range of experiences that no other medium can provide in such a broad scope and in such an immersive way.

With access to a vast knowledge base and resources for scenography, scenarios and costumes, we believe that we can  help larps become more easily available to the general public in the cultural and educational space – all in collaboration with other creators who dream the same dreams.

01.

Our mission

Our goal is to help the larp community develop in such a way that over time it will become as widely accessible as possible to people already involved in larps as well as to those who have never had anything to do with the scene. We would like larp to become part of the mainstream, and for this type of entertainment to have a permanent space in the calendars of city events. Our mission includes cooperation with cultural and educational institutions as well as other organizations, in order to spread our love for larp, introduce it into new spaces, and find a stable place for it in the local and international culture.

02.

Our dream

Wonderlarp was created to bring together creators and players from all over the world, and to create new projects together, transforming visions into unforgettable adventures. Our dream is for larps to reach the widest possible audience, connecting environments, cultures and people from different worlds so that they can create wonderful stories together. Every dream deserves to come true – and we are here to lead our larp dreams from vague ideas to their full implementation.

03.

Our story

Before the Wonderlarp Foundation became a reality, its future members were active on the local and international larp scene, creating games, traveling around the world to participate in larps organized by other creators, and broadening their horizons. The idea to unite under the Wonderlarp banner was born during one of the events, when a group of friends decided to fulfill their dream and open a scenography workshop with a costume facility. That workshop would soon become a hub for creative ideas, writing stories, and designing games from A to Z.

Since each of our team members already had a rich creative background when they joined the Foundation, we could no longer imagine pursuing our goals on our own – that is why one of the main foundation of Wonderlarp is, was, and always will be cooperation with other creators, jointly broadening horizons and creating projects with the greatest possible inclusivity.
